Celebrate CNY with Chinese Drumming

Chinese New Year is a much anticipated event for many - but the thrilling performance of the Upper Primary Chinese Drum Team at the HKIS CNY Assemblies is a fantastic celebration of Chinese Culture alongside enriching musical foundations, learning team-work skills, and having a fun and educational musical experience.

For the first time in the history of the UP CNY Drum Team, the 2021 annual CNY performance was held in a Virtual celebration. Watch the CNY Year of the Ox performance below.

Drum Team participants must be willing to home practice their drumming and choreography. Online resources are available, and participation in all rehearsals and performances is expected.

  • Rehearsals are held weekly on Tuesday 3:00-3:45pm.

  • Rehearsals will commence on in September and conclude after the School Wide CNY celebration.

  • Rehearsals are held at the Upper Primary, and is open to all UP Band students.

  • All materials, resources and CNY Drum Team uniform will be provided.

  • The CNY Drum Team ASA Fee will be invoiced on registration.

“The CNY Drum Team is open to priority of Grade 4 & 5 UP students. Minimum Drum Team participants are 10 students, and Maximum of 20 participants. ”
