Tenor Saxophone

Do it good. Do it again.

A customer story of his Yamaha Tenor.

Hi, please let me tell you how much I am pleased with Micra and Craig Lovett's work.

My Yamaha YTS62S was in a pretty bad shape. Original pads of 1990's where more than due for a change. This was perfectly done! The pads are of high quality and the sittings are perfect.

Also I dropped the saxophone from the unzipped case, so the column was badly bent. This was also perfectly fixed by Craig.

And, you know what? I dropped the saxophone again from the same unzipped case... Returned to Craig and perfectly fixed again!

This is a outmost professional repairman that Hong Kong should be thankful for! Do not hesitate for all your instruments needs, Micra can provide with a professional touch.

Mark VI Overhaul

I was involved with HKIS’ Wind Ensemble and Jazz Band but had not played my saxophone in over a decade until recently rediscovering my passion. I came across Craig’s profile online and decided to send in my vintage Mark VI for an overhaul. Craig conducted a very thorough assessment of the horn from the get-go (including using a strip light to assess tone-hole leveling) and exercised great care to the instrument.

He strikes me as someone who is patient and genuine as he listened attentively about my needs as a musician. I always felt that he had my horn’s interests in mind. From our first meeting, I was quickly captivated by his professionalism and knowledge about the saxophone, indicative of his many years of experience as a successful music educator and repair technician.

Craig was very meticulous with the overhaul as he disassembled the horn, re-oiled key rods, and replaced all the old pads, screws, and corks, all the while making sure I understood every aspect of the process. He worked his magic at reviving the horn despite its age and now it plays like new. The sweet sound that comes out of that horn now makes me want to play it every day, thank you!

Post Covid Chaos

After three years of Covid disruptions, our band instrument inventory was in terrible shape. Mouldy clarinets, broken saxes, stuck tuning slides, and no repair resources anywhere in the country.

I contacted Craig & Michelle to arrange for them to fly in for a week to see what they could fix. They were incredibly responsive & completely self-contained. They brought all the necessary tools and materials and were able to get nearly 50 woodwinds, brass, and string instruments back into playing shape.

I can’t recommend them strongly enough - thanks to Craig & Michelle we’ve got our instrumental program back up and running.

  • I rely on Craig and the team at Micra Music for all of my repairs now. They completely understand what music teachers need and offer additional services such as pickup and drop off. My students can make appointments with Craig for "Same Day Service" for most minor issues. In addition, Craig offers instrument rentals which has worked out very well for students who are unsure whether or not they will stick to an instrument, adding in a couple of staff members to a concert or having a practise instrument at home. After trying a few different repair centres, MicraMusic is now my "go to" place for best value and best customer service.
